Concise overview
The course gives an overview of the introduction to occupational therapy and presents underpinning knowledge of the profession. It introduces the concepts of Person, Occupation, and Environment as well as an introduction to the ICF (International Classification on Functioning, Disability and Health). The occupation-person-environment connection is presented relative to Occupational Therapy practice.
The students will develop their own perspective on occupational therapy through intensive discussions and application of the concepts to patients / clients. The course is the introduction to future more specialised courses (focusing on theories and models and practice children, adults with physical disabilities, adults with learning disabilities, people with psychosocial disabilities, elderly and project development/ management).
